Playoffs of the PadelCups.com

Now we can also offer a graphical playoff bracket for 6 players, 8 players, 12 players, 16 players, 24 players, and 32 players. The playoff feature is now initially active for Cup Americano (Padel Americano), Team Americano, and League play. Previously, you could write text-based playoffs in Manage Cup Information which you can find in the control panel. Then, the information appears at the bottom of the cup page, visible to participants and visitors.

Text-based playoffs

Sometimes the most convenient option might be to use a text-based playoff system. The advantage of a text-based playoff is that you can create your own variations of playoffs. For example, if you have two groups, you can input a simple playoff where the first place from Group 1 meets the first place from Group 2, the second place from Group 1 meets the second place from Group 2, and so on. In many cases, a custom version of playoffs can be more convenient than a traditional playoff bracket (quarterfinals -> semifinals -> final). Click on Manage Cup Information in the control panel to create your own playoffs. Normally, in an Americano, there is no playoff.

Graphical endgame tree

Padelcups.com can also offer a graphical playoff bracket. Below the graphics, the matches are listed, where it is possible to specify time & court and result. The result can be saved in Americano format, for example, 20-12, set result 2-1, or in any point total (7-1, 26-2, 100-50).

Here's how it works:

(This movie is in swedish.)
1 1 2 1 3 5 4 6 Matchnr: 2 1 2 1 2

Playoffs for 6 players

Padelcups.com can create a graphical playoff for 6 players (3 teams). Match number 1 is a qualifier for the final (#2). The best players go directly to the final without qualifying. The organizer should schedule a break before the final, so the players from the qualifying match have time to recover.
1 1 2 1 1 5 3 7 2 1 2 1 4 8 2 6 Matchnr: 3 1 2 Matchnr: 4 1 2

Playoffs for 8 players

Padelcups.com can create a graphical playoff for 8 players (4 teams). First, semifinals are played on Match #1 and Match #2. The final is on Match #3, and at the same time, a bronze match is on Match #4. Distribute the best players across the matches. With auto-import of players from the group stage, they are placed according to their ranking (see the example above). The best players are rewarded with better partners and easier opponents. Therefore, it is crucial to perform well in the group stage.
1 1 2 1 5 9 7 10 2 1 2 1 6 11 8 12 Matchnr: 3 1 2 1 3 Matchnr: 4 1 2 2 4 Matchnr: 5 1 2

Playoffs for 16 Players

Padelcups.com can create a graphical playoff for 16 players (8 teams). First, quarterfinals are played, then semifinals, and finally the final and the bronze match. (The bronze match is not shown graphically but only in text on the playoff page.) Place the best team in match #1 and the second-best team in match #4. This way, there is a chance they can meet in the final. Place the third-best team in match #2 and the fourth-best team in match #3, etc. When auto-importing players from the group stage, they are placed according to the ranking from the group stage (see example above).
1 1 2 1 1 5 9 13 2 1 2 1 3 7 10 14 3 1 2 1 2 6 11 15 4 1 2 1 4 8 12 16 Matchnr: 5 1 2 Matchnr: 6 1 2 Matchnr: 7 1 2

1 1 2 1 9 13 17 21 2 1 2 1 11 15 19 23 3 1 2 1 12 16 20 24 4 1 2 1 10 14 18 22 Matchnr: 5 1 2 1 5 Matchnr: 6 1 2 3 7 Matchnr: 7 1 2 4 8 Matchnr: 8 1 2 2 6 Matchnr: 9 1 2 Matchnr: 10 1 2 Matchnr: 12 1 2

Playoffs for 24 Players

Padelcups.com can create a graphical playoff for 24 players (12 teams). The top four teams from the group stage advance directly to the finals. The remaining teams play a qualifying match (quarterfinal) to reach the semifinals. (The bronze match is not shown graphically but only in text on the playoff page.)
1 1 2 1 1 5 17 23 2 1 2 1 9 13 19 25 3 1 2 1 3 7 29 32 4 1 2 1 11 15 21 27 5 1 2 1 12 16 22 28 6 1 2 1 4 8 30 31 7 1 2 1 10 14 20 26 8 1 2 1 2 6 18 24 Matchnr: 9 1 2 Matchnr: 10 1 2 Matchnr: 11 1 2 Matchnr: 12 1 2 Matchnr: 13 1 2 Matchnr: 14 1 2 Matchnr: 16 1 2

Playoffs for 32 Players

A padel tournament can create a graphical playoff for 32 players (16 teams). The playoffs consist of round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final. (The bronze match #15 is not shown graphically but only in text on the playoff page.) Place the best team in match #1 and the second-best team in match #8. This way, there is a chance they can meet in the final. Place the third-best team in match #3 and the fourth-best team in match #5, etc. By spreading out the best teams from the group stage into different branches, they have a greater chance of advancing further in the playoffs. It would be a shame if the best players (teams) had to face each other in the first round. The numbers in the table show how players are placed if you choose Auto-import.

Create Playoffs to create a playoff.

Select the number of players in the playoffs.

Enter the names or click on Next, and you can later choose to import the names from the group stage. We recommend that you do not enter names at this stage, but instead click on Next. Then you choose auto-import or to manually enter the names in the tournament bracket.

This is what it looks like when you are logged in. The matches are listed with text lines under the graphical playoff. To enter results, click on update next to the match. Enter the results and save. Once the result is saved, the program automatically moves the winners to the next match in the playoffs.

Click on Automatic Import to import the players from the group stage. NOTE! Regarding RANKING: The ranking is created by the program generating a large table, with players from all groups. So it could happen, for example, that 5 players from group 1 advance to the playoffs but only 3 players from group 2.

To change a player's name or to change teams, click on the player's name in the graphical tournament bracket. A pop-up window will appear. Change the name/player and then click the save button.

If you change your mind and realize that match number 3 did not end 18-12, but that the match will be played tomorrow, you can reset the match, i.e., enter 0-0 as the result and click save. Then the program will understand that the match has not been played, and the players will be removed from the final match.

Participants and visitors can find the playoffs in the menu on the tournament page.
